Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Health System Information Services (HSIS) professional with Epic experience to analyze, design, implement, and support software critical to healthcare operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in IT or related field and Epic certification or equivalent within 12 weeks of training. On-call duties and ongoing training are expected to ensure system reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Epic certification or certification obtained within 12 weeks of Epic training with no more than two testing attempts.

Responsibilities

• Independently identifies and evaluates business needs and gather requirements.
• Provide data through visualization and documentation to analyze and monitor current system functionality and evaluate new requests for functionality.
• Reviews work of peers and follows change control processes to develop, build, test and implement planned changes.
• Maintains thorough and accurate technical and functional documentation for self; reviews peer documentation to ensure standards are met.
• Evaluates system performance criteria and mitigates risk related to Epic system operations.
• Stays current on training and exams for all applicable Epic certifications.
• Performs on-call duties and provides user support by diagnosing problems and proposing solutions 24/7.
• Ensures compliance and security by following HIPAA, security, and other applicable regulations.
