Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Health Systems Information Services (HSIS) professional to analyze, design, implement, and support healthcare IT software, with emphasis on Epic systems. The role emphasizes working with stakeholders to optimize operations and deliver reliable IT services to support patient care.

The ideal candidate has Epic experience or certifications and is prepared to obtain certification within 12 weeks of Epic training, with a focus on HIPAA compliance and secure system operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field and two (2) years of healthcare support experience required.
• Epic certification in area of support or certification obtained within 12 weeks of completing Epic training with no more than two (2) testing attempts required.

Responsibilities

• Independently identifies and evaluates business needs; gathers requirements with stakeholders to support healthcare operations.
• Provides data through visualization and documentation to analyze current functionality and evaluate new requests.
• Reviews peer work and follows change control processes to develop, test and implement changes.
• Maintains thorough technical and functional documentation for self; reviews peer documentation for standards.
• Evaluates system performance and applies industry concepts to maintain operational processes and mitigate risk.
• Stays current on Epic certifications and training.
