Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Epic specialist to guide application teams on strategy, innovation, and support of Epic. You will lead efforts to analyze operational needs and establish technical standards to achieve enterprise goals.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field; Epic certification in area of support or certification within 12 weeks of Epic training. Preferred ambulatory and Phoenix certifications to support transplant care initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field is required or may be substituted by work experience.
• Epic certification in area of support or certification obtained within 12 weeks of completing Epic training (max two attempts).
• Ambulatory certification and Phoenix certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates frameworks for planning, design, and documentation of system functionality and changes.
• Sets standards and best practices to ensure work quality and alignment with enterprise priorities.
• Leads cross‑functional teams to determine the most appropriate technical strategy and support.
• Maintains accountability to support patient safety and quality initiatives.
