Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

The role involves supporting site investigations, developing DQOs, QAPPs, and SAPs, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to implement approved approaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and basic to high complexity analysis and interpretation of site data relevant to human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and SAPs.
• Prepares CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs for various complexity levels.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation of project documents and supports meetings with clients and responsible parties.
• Mentors junior staff and supports training.
• Supports proposals and RFP responses.
• Develops white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attends conferences to raise visibility of firm’s products and services.
• Performs other duties as required.
