Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects for the Environmental Services Group. This role primarily assists with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Frequency of travel contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Support site investigations and basic to high complexity analysis and interpretation of site data relevant to human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Assist with development of DQOs, QAPPs, and SAPs for projects.
• Prepare CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs of varying complexity.
• Collaborate with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provide technical evaluation of project documents and support client meetings.
• Guide and mentor junior staff and support growth within the discipline.
• Collaborate with sales staff to support proposals (RFPs).
• Contribute to firm knowledge with white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attend conferences to improve visibility of the firm’s products and services.
• Perform other duties as required.
