Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant claims experience.
• 2-4 years of casualty claims handling experience; environmental/product liability experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of claim investigation, coverage analysis, liability assessment, reserve evaluation, and settlement practices.
• Ability to interpret commercial insurance policies and identify issues requiring escalation.
• Experience working with defense counsel and managing litigated claims preferred.
• Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned caseload of environmental, products liability, life sciences, and professional liability claims.
• Conduct timely claim investigations with review of pleadings, contracts, medical records, and expert materials.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and reserves within assigned authority.
• Develop and execute claim handling plans, document material developments, and maintain claim files.
• Select, direct, and monitor defense counsel and experts per guidelines.
• Negotiate settlements within authority and escalate when additional authority is required.
• Participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Communicate effectively with insureds, brokers, counsel, claimants, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare concise claim summaries and updates for management and underwriting.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and company claim handling practices.
