The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Environmental Health and Safety programs at the Rochester, PA site. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a positive safety culture. The EHS Specialist collaborates with site management to implement proactive measures that protect personnel and physical assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement programs to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and property losses.
- Integrate risk and loss controls into daily operations in partnership with site management.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations.
Safety Culture and Training:
- Plan, coordinate, and lead EHS training programs for employees.
- Foster a positive safety culture through proactive interactions with employees and maintaining a strong shop-floor presence.
- Support employee-led safety committees and promote engagement in safety initiatives.
Incident Management and Hazard Tracking:
- Maintain and analyze incident management systems to track safety observations and hazards.
- Record and analyze incidents, identify causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to changes, procedures, and hazard tracking.
Compliance and Inspection:
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with industrial safety standards.
- Support practical compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with industrial safety standards, including respirator safety, lifting safety, and ergonomics.
Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with site teams to apply continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or 5-S.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree or higher, or at least 3-5 years of work experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility in an EHS role.
- Experience managing industrial safety standards, including respirator safety, lifting safety, and ergonomics.
- Hands-on experience with safety management systems and incident tracking.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, or Transactional Lean.
- Prior experience conducting safety training and developing training materials.
- Proficiency in safety compliance and implementing federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, Business, or a related field is a plus.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent communication skills to foster a positive safety culture and deliver effective training.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining compliance documentation.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with ergonomics and assessing workplace safety hazards is highly desirable.
- Must possess a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
