How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The HSE Specialist III is part of the Air Liquide North America (NAM) HSE support services group. This role involves demonstrating HSE technical and management competencies, providing pragmatic HSE solutions, and supporting sites with audits, compliance, accident investigations, and external agency interactions. It is a remote field role supporting facilities mainly in upstate NY (Albany/Malta), MA, MI, and DC, with >50% travel.

  • Support HSE activities at locations and act as liaison between HSE and operational stakeholders.
  • Assist and support field locations from other HSE personnel and support services.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide direct HSE assistance.
  • Participate in MOC reviews, HAZOP, and FMEAs.
  • Serve as the technical HSE focal point for Emergency Action Plans and Hazard Communication Programs.
  • Mentor and develop site safety champions.
  • Represent Air Liquide during agency inspections (EPA, OSHA, fire department, etc.).
  • Manage external customer contacts, understanding and addressing their requests.
  • Support plant turn-around and start-up projects with HSE expertise.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and develop data-driven proposals.
  • Analyze EHS data, report trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Interpret and apply HSE technical, procedural, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend HSE solutions considering different perspectives.
  • Perform HSE assessments and audits.
  • Manage priorities and schedules effectively.
  • Lead and participate in teams to achieve HSE goals.
  • Foster shared HSE ownership through critical thinking and influence.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, adapting style as needed.
  • Perform contractor safety management reviews.
  • Provide technical mentorship to peers.
  • Review machinery and equipment plans for safety compliance.
  • Build relationships with operational stakeholders for HSE system deployment.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate HSE processes against strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to HSE standards development.

Are you a MATCH?
  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE or STEM discipline required.
  • Valid employment authorization in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship needed now or in the future.
  • Strong understanding of compliance standards and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with confined space, energy isolation, fall protection, process safety preferred.
  • Certifications (CSP, CIH, OHST, REM, REP, etc.) preferred.
  • 7+ years of HSE operations experience in industrial settings; degree may substitute 3 years of experience.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% as needed.
