Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

Role Overview:

You will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive employee environmental, safety, and health (EHS) program aimed at reducing workplace accidents and injuries. Responsibilities include supporting EHS program administration, and ensuring safety policies and procedures are effectively implemented, coordinated, and evaluated across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Educate and foster a culture that encourages incident reporting, Good Catch submissions, and appropriate responses to reports.
  2. Promote and reinforce the company's Zero Incident culture among all employees.
  3. Assist in safety inspections of plants and stores; prepare reports with findings and corrective recommendations.
  4. Ensure facilities comply with OSHA, DOT, EPA, DHS, county, and internal audit requirements.
  5. Maintain all regulatory permits, certifications, and licenses related to plant operations.
  6. Lead environmental compliance efforts to ensure adherence to environmental permits and related activities.
  7. Perform data analysis to interpret environmental data; maintain and report compliance and training metrics to senior management.
  8. Keep stormwater management plans, permits, and DMR reporting up-to-date; conduct monthly inspections and coordinate routine maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Occupational Safety or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of safety-related experience
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, DHS regulations and training requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Reliable transportation and flexible working hours
  • Ability to work in a drug-free environment
