Job summary

Stantec seeks an Environmental Compliance Field Team Leader to provide technical leadership and day-to-day oversight of field-based environmental compliance monitoring on active construction projects. You will lead inspections, document findings, and communicate environmental requirements to project teams, clients, and contractors.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in environmental permitting or monitoring, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and experience supervising field staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, multi-disciplinary natural resource assessment, environmental compliance, or environmental monitoring.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising field staff on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting environmental compliance on large or complex construction projects is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act independently as the lead environmental compliance monitor onsite, potentially embedded with a client project team.
• Conduct and support environmental compliance inspections on active construction sites and document issues related to stormwater, wetlands, habitats, or endangered species.
• Review field observations and ensure inspections align with permits, plans, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote HSSE requirements and enforce safety protocols on site; support onboarding and field training for monitors.
• Prepare, review, and approve inspection reports and field documentation; coordinate with regulators as needed.
