MedStar Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist with operative procedures in the OR. You will anticipate the surgeon's needs, prepare cases per guidelines, and ensure equipment is functioning properly under direct supervision.

The role requires completion of a surgical technology program or hospital-based training, with CPR/BLS. Perks include working in a leading medical system with a focus on patient safety and teamwork.

Qualificações

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and graduation from a surgical technology program or completion of hospital-based training.
• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills may be required for charting and documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Anticipates sequential needs of the surgeon during the operative procedure.
• Assists with case preparation following preference card guidelines.
• Ensures equipment functions properly and reports issues promptly.
• Functions as surgical assistant under direct supervision of the surgeon; may act as second assistant for exposure and retraction.
• Identifies and handles specimens appropriately.
• Maintains aseptic technique and monitors for breaches in aseptic technique.
• May serve as a technical resource for OR staff regarding instruments and equipment.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
• Performs indirect patient care activities such as patient transportation as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Provides comfort and support for preoperative patients with sensitivity to care and privacy.
• Responds to questions from patient families promptly and courteously.
