Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. You will prepare materials and equipment using aseptic techniques, assist surgeons, and maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.

This role requires no prior experience, completion of a Surgical Technology program, and BLS certification within 6 months. The position emphasizes safe patient handling, equipment setup, and collaboration with OR staff to ensure efficient, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques for preparation of materials, supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of equipment used in the operating room.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Team members must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, efficient area for optimal patient care and aseptic setup.
• Assist in various surgical procedures and pass instruments.
• Ensure environmental disinfection and safety of the operating room.
• Function as Second Assistant as needed.
• Notify staff of equipment and supply problems.
• Transport patients and equipment.
• Maintain sterile field and equipment readiness.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate care and development awareness.
