Job summary

Hourigan in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to learn the career tracks within construction management, including field management, project management, preconstruction services, virtual design and construction coordination, and safety, with mentorship from experienced staff.

This role provides hands-on project exposure, participation in meetings, and the chance to develop administrative skills, estimate tasks, and contribute to timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings and evenings.
• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Integrity, fairness, and teamwork are essential.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow and assist with development of procedures for controlling contract drawings.
• Assist Project Administrator with setup of the job management system.
• Assist the project team with the building permit process.
• Assist the Superintendent in developing the site utilization plan.
• Coordinate review of Loss Prevention, Sustainability Action Plan and Quality Control Program.
• Manage submittal data and shop drawings to support schedules.
