Job summary

Hourigan is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer in Virginia Beach to learn and participate in construction management, preconstruction, and related tracks. You will support drawing control, permitting, and coordination with the project team.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in CM or Engineering and up to 3 years of related experience, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. This full-time on-site role offers growth across field, project, and coordination tracks.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 0–3 years of progressive construction related experience.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.

Responsibilities

• Follow and assist with development of procedures for controlling contract drawings.
• Assist Project Administrator with setup of the job management system.
• Assist the project team with the building permit process.
• Assist the Superintendent in developing the site utilization plan.
• Assist with review and coordination of the Loss Prevention, Sustainability Action Plan and Quality Control Program.
• Review submittal data and shop drawings to expedite schedules and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain administrative logs (RFI, RFP, COR, Submittal, Document Control).
• Support onsite quality management and coordination with subcontractors.
