Job summary

Hourigan, a fully integrated construction management and development firm, is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer in Richmond, VA. This role offers exposure to field, project, preconstruction, virtual design, coordination, and safety tracks, with emphasis on learning and professional growth.

You will support the team with submittals, permits, procurement, and documentation while developing foundational skills in construction management and project delivery.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or 0-3 years of progressive construction experience).
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours (early mornings/evenings).
• Work may occur outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow and assist with development of procedures for controlling contract drawings.
• Assist Project Administrator with setup of the job management system.
• Assist the project team with the building permit process.
• Assist the Superintendent in the site utilization planning.
• Assist with review and coordination of safety, quality, and sustainability plans.
• Process submittals and shop drawings to support project schedules.
• Prepare and maintain administrative logs (RFI, RFP, COR, Submittal, Document Control).
• Attend project meetings and assist in progress reports and minutes.
