Hourigan is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer to join our integrated construction team in Charlottesville. You will learn diverse career tracks within construction management, including field management, project management, preconstruction services, virtual design & coordination, and safety.

The role emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and hands-on learning, with exposure to permit processes, submittals, value engineering, and project coordination across teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or 0–3 years of progressive construction experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a drive to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Follow and assist with development of procedures for controlling contract drawings.
• Assist Project Administrator with setup of the job management system.
• Assist the project team with the building permit process.
• Assist the Superintendent in the site utilization planning.
• Participate in safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
• Support on-site quality management and submittal coordination.
• Attend project meetings and assist with progress reporting.
