Giant Eagle is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join our collaborative team. You will support safe, accurate and efficient pharmacy operations, greet patients, process prescriptions, and help maintain a patient-centered service environment.

This entry-level role requires a high school diploma, eligibility to obtain pharmacy technician registration, 0–6 months experience, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and be at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: Eligible to obtain registration as pharmacy technician with the applicable state board of pharmacy.
• Experience: 0 to 6 months.
• Lifting: Up to 25 pounds.
• Age: At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients with compassion at all pharmacy entry points.
• Provide patient care by addressing prescriptions in person and by phone, directing questions to the pharmacist.
• Maintain a neat, compliant work environment to meet company and government requirements.
• Assist team members to ensure the department runs efficiently.
• Use the pharmacy computer to process actions for drop-off, will-call, drive-thru, phone, and order receiving.
• Support execution of company initiatives and training programs.
• Complete required training and exams.
• Follow HIPAA, pseudoephedrine laws, and other policies.
• Finalize sales at the point of sale.
• Transcribe prescription data to generate customer labels.
• Assist with inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking and rotating drugs and supplies.
• Answer calls politely and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Resolve questions by communicating with customers and staff.
• File written prescriptions daily.
