Shannon & Wilson Inc in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. You will perform geotechnical analyses, write reports, and participate in field explorations, laboratory testing, and construction observation on projects across the region.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, 0–6 years of experience, and an EIT or path to PE licensing. Willingness to travel and strong communication skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is expected.

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering; MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
0–6 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Engineer-in-Training Certificate obtained or in process.
On track to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Experience in soil mechanics; rock mechanics; foundations; tunneling; seismic design.
Field/construction observation experience.
Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel to support Shannon & Wilson offices.
Valid driver license with insurable driving record.
MS Word and Excel proficiency; Access desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
Prepare and write engineering and other reports.
Conduct field explorations, sample collection, geologic reconnaissance, and mapping.
Provide construction observation and document logs and summaries.
Perform geotechnical lab testing and communicate results.
Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
Support marketing activities, including cost proposals.
Frequent travel to field sites and other offices.
Adhere to QA policies and health and safety practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
