Job summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. is seeking an entry-level Field/Office Engineer to support field crews and office staff on geotechnical projects across North America. You will interpret drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, assist in work plans, and support surveying, JHA, and safety activities while traveling as projects demand.

The role emphasizes collaboration, learning, and hands-on exposure to underground and foundation construction with opportunities for career growth and relocation as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering (civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical, construction management).
• Previous experience in construction or mining is preferred.
• Strong desire to work in the underground construction industry.
• Willing to travel and relocate as we operate on a national scale, not just regional.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from work; valid driver's license.
• Critical thinking with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize.

Responsibilities

• Field Engineering: interpret drawings/specs for field crews; assist in quantity calculations and work plans.
• Support field surveying and layout including elevation and control points.
• Assist in labor timesheets, JHA preparation, and data collection.
• Assist in underground tunneling and construction operation solutions.
• Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety trainings.
• Order and schedule material deliveries; plan work groups and coordinate on-site.
• Supervise field operations and assist in office engineering tasks.
• Perform material takeoffs and basic engineering calculations.
• Prepare submittals, transmittals, purchase orders, and change orders as needed.
• Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
