Job summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. is seeking an entry-level Field/Office Engineer to support field crews, office engineering, and estimating activities on geotechnical projects across North America.

You will assist in interpreting drawings, preparing plans, coordinating material deliveries, and supporting cost data and submittals while traveling as needed. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field such as civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical or construction management.
• Previous experience in construction or mining is preferred.
• Must have a strong desire to work in the underground construction industry.
• Be willing to participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department.
• Must be willing to travel and relocate as operations are national.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in interpretation of drawings and specs for field crews and supervision.
• Perform quantity takeoffs by measurements and material completion percentages.
• Assist in preparing work plans and work packages.
• Support field surveying and layout including elevation and control points.
• Compile daily labor timesheets and assist in JHA preparation.
• Provide solutions related to underground tunneling and construction operations.
• Participate in safety reviews, toolbox and mass safety meetings.
• Order and schedule material deliveries and coordinate work groups on site.
• Supervise field operations and provide field support
• Assist in material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and drafting to support field operations
• Assist in data gathering for submittals, purchase orders, and subcontracts
• Enter data into job cost system and review cost reports with management
• Assist in change orders and as-built data preparation
