Job summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. seeks an Entry Level Field/Office Engineer to support field crews and office operations on geotechnical projects across North America. You’ll assist in drawings interpretation, takeoffs, and job cost tracking while gaining exposure to underground tunneling and construction management.

Travel and relocation are required as projects are nationwide; strong teamwork and reliability are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (civil, mining, mechanical, geotechnical, construction management)
• Experience in construction or mining is preferred
• Must be willing to travel and relocate nationwide, not just regionally
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Willing to participate fully in field and office assignments

Responsibilities

• Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and supervision
• Perform quantity takeoffs and measure completed/installed materials
• Assist in preparing work plans and work packages
• Support field surveying and layout, elevation, control points, and as-built data
• Compile daily labor timesheets and JHA documents
• Provide solutions related to underground tunneling and construction operations
• Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, and safety training
• Order and schedule material deliveries
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site work groups
• Supervise field operations
• Perform material takeoffs and basic engineering calculations to support field operations
• Assist in data collection for submittals and transmittals
• Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts, and assist in solicitations
• Maintain project records, daily reports, RFIs, and memos
• Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports
