Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in El Paso is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician. No prior experience is needed as training will be provided under the guidance of senior staff to learn safe testing of soils, aggregates, and concrete.

You will conduct field observations, sampling, and testing on construction sites, collect data, and assist with calculations and documentation. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and growth opportunities with certifications pursued

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road regulations, and company policies.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety practices and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials (soils, aggregates, concrete) on project sites.
• Perform routine field and laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete following industry standards.
• Collect data, perform calculations, and assist with drafting and administrative duties.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Assist with organization of field equipment and report broken or missing gear to supervisor.
• Receive training in ECS methodology for observations, inspections, and testing.
