Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking an entry-level Caseworker in Marion County to support the Bureau for Child Support Enforcement (BCSE). You will undergo classroom and on-the-job training, progressing toward independent caseload management while handling routine inquiries and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities include locating parents and assets, calculating support formulas, and preparing case files for the BCSE Attorney, with close supervision and monthly performance evaluations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Paralegal or legal secretarial training may substitute for two years of training.
• Experience in legal settings with research, reading, and interpreting laws may substitute for training.
• Driver’s license and vehicle availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform beginning level child support case work under supervision.
• Develop familiarity with child support laws, regulations, and BCSE policies.
• Prepare case files for the BCSE Attorney and respond to customer inquiries.
• Locate parents, assets and income sources; calculate child support formulas.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Paralegal or legal secretarial training program substitute

Legal research, reading and interpreting laws in a legal setting

Experience in debt collections, credit investigations, criminal investigations, law enforcement, accounting, or auditing

Economic Service Worker or Family Support Specialist

Combination substitutions: 1 year per 30 semester hours

Valid driver’s license and vehicle availability
