Job summary

Akron Children's in Ohio is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician I to support inpatient pediatric behavioral health care under the direction of a registered nurse. You will aid in data collection, direct patient care, group activities, documentation, safety, and milieu management for ages 5-17.

Responsibilities include crisis management, assisting with activities of daily living, communicating with the treatment team, and contributing to treatment plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree for counseling, psychology, social work or related degree, or nursing preferred.
• Associate degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to the assessment, planning, intervening and evaluation of individualized care. Provides direct care under RN direction.
• Facilitates or co-facilitates psychoeducational and therapeutic activity groups.
• Documents in the medical record according to policies and contributes to safety and milieu management.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and communicates with the treatment team.
• Manages crisis situations using positive approaches and maintains a safe environment.
• Provides instruction to patients and families under RN direction and supports environmental safety rounds.
