Job summary

Capital One seeks a Manager of Ontology and Data Modeling to lead the enterprise ontology program and data modeling efforts in support of Capital One’s Data Strategy. You will collaborate across Lines of Business and Functions to develop domain ontologies and partner with Technology and ML teams to drive semantic technology across Capital One products and services.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and project management skills, with a focus on delivering measurable business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics or computational linguistics.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a metadata field (ontology, taxonomy, semantics or computational linguistics).
• At least 4 years’ experience with W3C standards including linked data and ontologies (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, and SKOS)
• At least 4 years’ experience or training with ontology and linked data tools (Protégé, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, Stardog, AnzoGraph, Neptune, or Data.World)
• At least 4 years’ experience or training with SQL or SPARQL.

Responsibilities

• Define clear and actionable problem statements to help teams deliver results while displaying an understanding of ontologies and optimized data models.
• Own and prioritize the near-term Ontology and Data Modeling roadmap to deliver business outcomes.
• Collaborate with Technology, Machine Learning, and other Capital One teams to support semantics integration.
• Develop standards, guidelines, and direction for ontology and data standardization at Capital One.
• Mentor and develop junior ontology and data modeling associates.
• Communicate and advocate the value of Capital One’s ontology and semantic efforts across the business.
