Job summary

Capital One seeks a Senior Associate of Ontology and Data Modeling to develop, implement, and govern enterprise ontologies supporting the Data Strategy. You will collaborate with Finance Products and Data Solutions to create standardized data and drive semantic technology across products and services.

You’ll work with Technology, Product, and broader teams to champion data discoverability, mapping, and governance while aligning with W3C standards. Plano, TX focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics, computational linguistics or related.
• At least 2 years in a metadata field or a master’s degree in related fields.
• 2+ years in W3C standards (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS).
• 2+ years in ontology and linked data tools (Protégé, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, Stardog, AnzoGraph, Neptune, Data.World).
• 2+ years in SQL, SPARQL, or related.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and govern ontologies and optimized data models with stakeholders.
• Contribute to data integration and harmonize data with ontologies.
• Communicate the value of ontologies, semantics, and standardization across the business.
• Partner with Technology, ML and other teams to integrate semantics into products.
• Analyze and implement knowledge organization strategies using machine learning and semantic tools.
• Maintain awareness of industry developments related to ontology usage and data modeling.
• Adhere to W3C standards (RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, SHACL).
• Develop standards and guidelines for ontology, data modeling and data standardization.
• Test and troubleshoot new models and systems.
• Manage and oversee other projects as assigned.
