Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking committed English educators in Pittsburgh to build core language skills and college readiness through a multi-phase curriculum. You will teach small groups, track progress, manage lesson schedules, and model professional communication while supporting students through the college application process.

The ideal candidate has a humanities degree from US institutions, teaching experience in English or college writing centers, and strong verbal skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in humanities from US schools; Master’s degree preferred
• Teaching experience in English or college writing centers (1+ years)
• Demonstrated academic excellence (3.5+ GPA)
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of English
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and G-Suites
• Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace
• Hours of Operations: Mon/ Fri closed; Tue-Thu 1:30 pm–9:30 pm CST; Sat-Sun 9:30 am–5:30 pm CST

Responsibilities

• Teach small groups of students in English core skills for college readiness exams (ACT & SAT)
• Track student progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
• Maintain and update student lesson schedules and hold students accountable
• Model professionalism with strong organizational skills and timely communication
• Innovate with evolving lesson plans and curriculum
• Mentor middle and high school students through a competitive college application process
