Job summary

Vanguard College Prep seeks full-time English instructors to teach core English skills, work with small groups, and guide students through a robust, multi-phase curriculum. You will track progress, manage schedules, and model professional standards in communications.

The role emphasizes developing customized lesson plans and mentoring students to navigate college admissions, with evenings and weekend hours aligned to the schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a humanities field from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.). (Master’s or higher preferred)
• Teaching experience in English and/or college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
• Access to reliable internet and quiet workspace
• Commitment to work during Hours of Operations: Mondays and Fridays closed; Tue–Thu 1:30 pm CST–9:30 pm CST; Sat–Sun 9:30 am CST–5:30 pm CST

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in English core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores.
• Track Growth: Monitor students’ progress through Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum and individualized growth opportunities.
• Manage and Model: Maintain lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments, and communicate professionally.
• Innovate: Develop and execute evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students through the college application process.
