Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking a full-time English educator to inspire students and build core skills for college readiness. You will teach English in small groups, track progress, and manage schedules with professional communication.

The role emphasizes ongoing curriculum innovation and mentoring students through the college application process. The ideal candidate holds a humanities degree (master's preferred), has 1+ years teaching English or in a college Writing Center, and demonstrates

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in humanities from US schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.)
• Teaching experience in English and/or college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
• Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
• Track Growth: Track your students' progress as they move through Vanguard's unique multi-phase curriculum, engaging students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities.
• Manage and Model: Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold them accountable for assignments, and model professionalism with strong organizational skills.
• Innovate: Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever-evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students with empathy through the college application process.
