Job summary

Vanguard College Prep in Tucson is seeking dedicated educators to join our full-time team. We hire professionals who build lasting core skills, not gig workers, and aim to prepare students for top-tier colleges and beyond.

You will teach English in small groups, track growth through a multi-phase curriculum, manage schedules, and develop engaging lesson plans. Requires a bachelor’s in humanities, 1+ year teaching or writing center experience, and strong English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities from US Schools; Master’s or higher preferred.
• Teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center (1+ years).
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA).
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in their college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
• Track Growth: Track your students’ progress as they move through Vanguard’s unique multi-phase curriculum, engaging students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities along the way.
• Manage and Model: Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold them accountable for assignments, and model professionalism along with strong organizational skills through timely student communication.
• Innovate: Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever-evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students with empathy and an innate understanding that the college application process is becoming increasingly competitive and stressful.
