Job summary

GVI Inc., a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, is seeking a detail-oriented First Line Supervisor / Librarian in Norfolk, VA to manage engineering records, support the MSC Engineering Department’s Technical Documentation Branch, and maintain the VTL system. The role involves digitizing, organizing, and distributing critical technical documentation for ships and vessels.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of prior data management experience and five (5) years prior experience related to the operation of a technical library or similar data repository.
• Five years’ experience using SAMM VTL applications.
• Five years’ experience utilizing TDMIS and TDMER.
• Five years’ experience with the process of NAVSEA drawing/tech manual numbers.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering and technical records including receiving, cataloging, filing, organizing, rearranging, and redistributing documentation within the library space.
• Support day-to-day operations by answering calls and emails and coordinating messages.
• Maintain regulatory documentation from USCG, ABS, NAVSEA and other bodies, and retrieve related drawings and certifications.
• Digitize information by scanning and converting drawings, manuals, and documents into electronic formats.
• Support MSC SAMM Virtual Technical Library (VTL) operations.
• Prepare technical documents for distribution, laminating drawings and shipping materials.
• Maintain manufacturer literature libraries including service bulletins and advisories.
• Support ship availabilities by organizing and distributing technical data to engineering teams and vessels.
• Create/update engineering drawings per MSC CAD Drawing Standard and GTRs.
• Export and distribute electronic data from SAMM VTL to vessels.
