The Shaw Group's Engineering Development Program (SEDP) offers a 24-month rotational track, exposing early-career engineers to multiple roles, teams, and technologies. Participants typically complete four six-month rotations, contributing to active projects and receiving guidance from experienced engineers.

Program aims to build well-rounded engineers who understand how engineering, design, fabrication, and project execution come together to deliver successful projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, process, chemical, civil, or related engineering field from an accredited program.
  • Recent graduate or early-career engineer with zero to two years of relevant experience; internships, co-ops, or project-team experience are preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of engineering principles with ability to apply academic knowledge to practical projects.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, modeling, calculation, or engineering documentation tools (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Navisworks helpful).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, technical writing, presentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel, relocate, or participate in rotational assignments as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned rotations and learning objectives while contributing to real project work, deliverables, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Develop P&ID drafting skills, including process-flow interpretation and equipment/instrument tagging.
  • Develop piping design skills using 2D and 3D tools, including equipment layout and routing.
  • Participate in project engineering rotations based on business needs and available project assignments.
  • Support project teams through assignments in engineering, controls, estimating, planning, or related functions.
  • Use CAD, modeling, calculation, and other engineering tools appropriate to each assignment.
  • Attend project meetings, design reviews, site visits, inspections, and client/vendor interactions when assigned.
  • Prepare technical documents, reports, drawings, and status updates for rotation deliverables.
  • Apply Shaw procedures, codes, standards, and safe-work practices; build cross-discipline relationships.
