Pearson is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5–8 engineers on the Enterprise Learning & Skills platform. You will guide delivery, maintain quality, and drive growth while partnering with product, customer success, and vendors.

You will coach the team, prioritize work, and ensure secure, scalable solution design. This remote role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and strong engineering discipline.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years leading or managing a software engineering team.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and React in production.
• Familiarity with AWS and PostgreSQL; API management experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of 5–8 engineers building Ruby on Rails services and React frontends.
• Plan and allocate daily and sprint work; monitor progress against delivery schedules.
• Troubleshoot obstacles and coordinate handoffs across engineers, teams, and vendors.
• Triage bugs and production issues with attention to detail.
• Maintain standards of quality and consistency within coding, QA, and documentation processes.
• Provide real-time feedback; conduct regular 1:1s; celebrate milestones.
• Own onboarding and skill development for new team members.
• Identify and introduce process improvements at the team level.
• Champion the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
• Uphold secure, ethical, and resilient engineering practices.
