Job summary

Instructure, Inc. seeks a Manager of Engineering in Budapest to lead an engineering team within the Assessment Group. You will guide day-to-day execution, help engineers grow, and ensure work aligns with broader product strategy.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on architectural guidance, review, and preventing blockers. You will mentor engineers, own delivery, and collaborate with product and design. Strong communication and hiring experience are essential for success in this leadership

Qualifications

• Experience managing software engineers, ideally at senior engineer level or above before moving into management.
• Ability to delegate work while staying technical enough to guide decisions.
• Comfort giving direct, honest feedback, including hard conversations.
• Experience running a hiring process from requisition to offer.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, guiding day-to-day work and removing blockers so they can deliver.
• Run regular one-on-ones with direct reports and give continuous, honest feedback.
• Own delivery for your team, keeping work on track and adjusting priorities as needed.
• Mentor engineers using our competency framework and prevent single points of failure.
• Hire for your team: define roles, build panels, run debriefs, and make offers.
