Job summary

UniGroup is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple engineering teams. The role drives on-time delivery, high-quality software, and a strong engineering culture, collaborating with Product, UX, and business stakeholders.

Open to occasional telecommuting within reasonable distance of the reporting office, with a focus on mentoring leaders and building scalable solutions that support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or foreign degree equivalent).
• 8 years of experience in software engineering, including design, development, and testing with Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
• 3+ years in Agile development environments with sprint planning and cross-team coordination.
• 3+ years contributing to technical architecture, system design, and roadmaps in production.

Responsibilities

• Leads multiple engineering teams and people leaders to drive performance and growth.
• Oversees delivery processes, backlog planning, and cross-team coordination for on-time delivery.
• Partners with Product, UX, and Engineering leadership to align tech with business goals.
• Contributes hands-on to design, code reviews, and development as needed.
• Manages KPIs, drives velocity, and translates complex tech into actionable insights.
• Evaluates vendor solutions and platforms with stakeholders to optimize tech choices.
• Develops technology roadmaps and standardizes development processes across teams.
• Builds strong cross-functional relationships and mentors emerging leaders.
