Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Engineering Manager II, Runtime Services to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This role will lead a new platform-focused team responsible for strengthening core runtime services that support critical engineering workflows. The manager will define the technical direction for scheduling and monitoring capabilities while improving scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency across the broader engineering environment. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams to raise developer productivity, support better decision-making, and build a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $208,592 – $429,454 annually

Responsibilities

• Establish the strategy and operating model for a new team focused on major platform services
• Lead the technical roadmap for job scheduling and ML monitoring platforms
• Build partnerships across the organization to enhance developer productivity and decision-making
• Improve operational excellence through stronger observability and incident response practices
• Hire and develop a high-performing, inclusive team culture
• Use AI to improve planning, documentation, and operational analysis

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in distributed platforms and backend systems
• 2+ years of engineering management experience leading platform and backend teams
• Strong foundation in platform reliability, observability, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous execution, and workflow orchestration
• Experience setting technical strategy and improving platform scalability and operational efficiency
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and lead across platforms
• Clear communication skills and a people-focused leadership approach
• Experience using AI for engineering planning and execution
