Job summary

Block is seeking an Engineering Manager for Finance & Supply Chain Engineering in the United States. You will lead a seasoned team building mission-critical systems across record-to-report automation, financial planning, tax reporting, and supply chain execution.

This is a greenfield platform with broad influence on architecture, product direction, and cross-functional partnerships. You will shape the team culture, drive reliable execution, and mentor engineers while collaborating with Finance,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience
• 4+ years of engineering management experience
• Strong technical judgment for architecture across distributed systems
• Interest in agentic systems that automate workflows
• Experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders
• Track record delivering reliable, maintainable systems
• Strong cross-functional communication across teams

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow an engineering team: coach and develop engineers across levels
• Shape a greenfield platform for finance and supply chain systems
• Build intelligent automated systems to streamline financial operations
• Set technical direction and define architecture and roadmaps
• Drive execution by translating business needs into priorities and plans
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Compliance, Product, and Operations
• Ensure reliability, observability, security, and governance of systems
• Navigate complexity across legacy systems, data pipelines, and regulatory needs
• Foster an inclusive, high-ownership engineering culture
• Develop future technical leaders within the team
