Job summary

Risus Talent Partners LLC is partnering with a rapidly growing modular construction company to hire an Engineering Manager. This role leads a design/engineering team, collaborates with fabrication, operations, and clients, and focuses on practical, buildable solutions in a dynamic environment.

The position requires 5+ years in engineering/design within modular construction or related settings, with a preference for structural/MEP backgrounds and a P.E. license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering/design experience.
• Background in modular construction, manufacturing, steel fabrication, or design-build environments.
• Structural or MEP background strongly preferred.
• P.E. Certification strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, coordination, and delegation skills.
• Ability to create and interpret technical drawings.
• Hands-on mindset with practical problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
• Strong communication skills across field teams, production staff, designers, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a growing design/engineering team (typically 4-10 people, including remote team members).
• Oversee project priorities and coordinate timelines based on client deadlines.
• Work closely with clients to understand project vision, timelines, expectations, and technical requirements.
• Support production/fabrication teams when design or construction issues arise.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, fabrication, operations, and field teams.
• Solve practical construction and fabrication challenges during project execution.
• Ensure designs are realistic, buildable, and production-friendly.
• Support Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) initiatives.
• Help drive communication and accountability across office, shop, and field operations.
