Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a 2027 Summer Internship in our Oakland office. The program offers hands-on experience in construction monitoring, field investigations, and structural analysis under licensed professionals.

You will assist with testing, data analysis, and preparation of client deliverables while gaining exposure to a leading engineering practice in building structures and enclosures.

Qualifications

• Current students with an interest in civil and structural engineering.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Eager to learn and contribute in a consulting engineering environment.
• Maintains high grades and organized work approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials and support petrography staff, develop test protocols and test data analysis.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance of existing structures and field testing.
• Organize field data and assist with research to facilitate analysis and repair design.
• Perform analysis under licensed engineers using hand calculations and software.
• Assist in preparing client deliverables including construction documents and reports.
• Travel and working from heights may be required.
