Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) invites motivated students to join a 2027 Summer Internship in our Oakland office. You will work alongside industry experts, applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges in civil and structural engineering.

You will gain hands-on experience in construction monitoring, field investigations, and testing, with opportunities to contribute to client deliverables and reports, while potentially traveling to project sites and working from heights.

Qualifications

• Interest in civil/structural engineering, materials science, architecture.
• Maintain high grades and seek hands-on consulting experience.
• Strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials, design test protocols, and perform tests.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance and field testing.
• Organize field data and assist with research for analysis and repair design.
• Prepare client deliverables including construction documents and reports.
• Work may involve travel and working from heights.
