The work includes installing systems and may also involve some work on fire suppression systems, as well as low voltage electrical systems. You'll use power tools, ladders, aerial lifts, and hand tools of all types, and you'll operate motor vehicles. Level 1 pay starts at $24 and up per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We have Levels 1–5, and pay is based on level.WHAT YOU'LL DOSpecial Hazards Suppression Systems: Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of special hazards engineered suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 11, 12, 12A, 16, 17, 69, 72, 750, 2001, or 2010, as applicableTroubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve off-normal suppression system conditionsRepair or replace faulty suppression system componentsCorrect and/or modify fire alarm system programming when asked to do soPerform and/or coordinate recharge, hydrotest, and maintenance of suppression agent tanksExplosion Prevention Systems: Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of explosion prevention systems in accordance with NFPA 11, 12, 12A, 16, 17, 69, 72, 750, 2001, or 2010, as applicableTroubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve off-normal explosion prevention system conditions, and repair or replace faulty system componentsAssist with other aspects of the business as applicableWHAT YOU'LL BRINGHigh school diploma or equivalent (minimum)Driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to lift up to 75 lbs. and climb laddersAbility to comply with Getz Fire Equipment's Drug and Alcohol policy, including abstaining from marijuana, because this position is safety sensitiveAbility to work efficiently with minimal supervision and follow safety policiesIndustry experience in fire protection or low voltage electrical systems preferred; entry-level applicants are welcomeNICET certification in Fire Alarm and/or Special Hazards preferred, but not required initiallyFamiliarity with power tools, hand tools, and general construction techniques, and the ability to work safely with electricityStrong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with toolsGood computer skills; well organized, personable, and punctualExcellent communication, organization, and prioritization skillsAbility to work cooperatively and maintain a positive, professional mannerAbility to handle multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentMaintain confidentiality in performance of all dutiesWORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVELThe job can be physically demanding and takes place in all sorts of environments, including educational, healthcare, industrial, business, and power generation facilities. This work takes place throughout Getz's area of coverage, which extends from the border of Indiana, across all of central Illinois, and into the eastern portion of Iowa and the northeast portion of Missouri. Travel and overnight hotel stays will be necessary, and all travel and expenses are paid.Safety-sensitive position: This position involves driving company vehicles to customer locations and driving a fork truck. Pre-employment and random drug screening is required and includes testing for marijuana and its derivatives.
