Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Project Manager – Transmission and Substation in Dallas to lead multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction and closeout. You’ll manage scope, schedule, budget, safety, and regulatory compliance for high-voltage transmission lines and substations, while maintaining client alignment and delivering value.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in project management within the electric utility sector, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of project management experience involving transmission lines, substations, electric distribution, protection and controls, system planning, or reliability projects.
• Experience with PM processes and practices used within the electric utility or power industry.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations.
• Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience with proposal development, negotiation, and consensus building.
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and attend client meetings as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update project forecasts, schedules, status reports, and other deliverables following Jacobs PM processes.
• Lead project meetings, document decisions, actions, and responsibilities for the team.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding expectations and addressing concerns.
• Monitor performance against scope, budget, and schedule; identify and mitigate risks and issues.
• Coordinate communications with clients, stakeholders, and support teams; notify when budgets or schedules exceed.
• Facilitate procurement activities, including issuing RFPs, evaluating bids, and making award recommendations.
• Support engineering design development, document submittals, and quality reviews.
• Lead field issue resolutions in compliance with codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
