Job summary

Brightsmith is seeking a Field Engineer for hybrid power and energy storage projects. You will install and commission electrical systems for microgrid and storage solutions, working with engineers and project managers on site and remotely.

This role emphasizes safety, hands-on commissioning, and collaboration with customers and partners. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in field electrical/mechanical work and at least 1 year with hybrid energy systems (PV, gas, diesel, BESS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (ABET-accredited or approved equivalent).
• 2+ years of field experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems, plus 1+ year with hybrid energy systems.
• Experience with electrical safety and hazard awareness.
• Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and components (DC systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, HVAC enclosures).
• Ability to plan, commissioning, and decommission electrical power systems equipment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 50%+.

Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning and validation of hybrid systems at project sites for microgrid and storage products.
• Collaborate with customers, utilities, and partners to define and implement electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls in power systems using instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Coordinate installation, testing, and documentation to meet specs, codes, and customer requirements.
• Support sustaining engineering, service, and training of field technicians and engineers.
