Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer specializing in Energy Storage Systems (ESS) to lead ESS design and compliance across data center projects in the U.S. You will coordinate with the Fire & Life Safety team and other engineers to meet code requirements and client objectives.

Responsibilities include developing fire protection for ESS, reviewing NFPA 855, UL9540/UL9540A, and other standards, performing hazard analyses, and communicating with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure

Qualifications

Related bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, architectural, or fire protection engineering.
1–3 years of fire protection and life safety experience; ESS experience preferred.
Strong written and spoken communication, and analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

Direct and execute the design of building MEP systems for ESS installations.
Ensure compliance with NFPA 855, UL9540/UL9540A, UL1778, UL924 and other standards.
Prepare documentation to support permits and hazard mitigation analyses.
Coordinate with vendors, engineers, and architects to implement design changes.
Present fire risk assessments to authorities having jurisdiction.
