Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide clinical support in the Digestive Health Center as part of the endoscopy team. The role includes patient care, specimen collection, instrument handling, and room setup/teardown between cases, plus reprocessing endoscopes and supporting department equipment.

Multiple shift options are available, including 8-, 9-, and 10-hour shifts with sign-on and relocation bonuses.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology program completion.
CER certification within 18 months.
BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Proficient infection control and aseptic techniques.
Ability to scrub basic surgical procedures and assist in endoscopy procedures.

Responsibilities

Assist in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment to maintain an efficient and cost-effective department.
Collect data on assigned patients as directed by the RN and unit-based performance standards.
Document accurately in nursing records and unit documentation.
Apply aseptic principles to maintain a sterile environment.
Communicate effectively with team members, patients and families.
Assist providers with procedures and treatments.
Clean and sterilize instruments according to policy and guidelines.
Prepare rooms and stock supplies for exams and procedures.
Obtain specimens and transport per hospital policies.
Reprocess endoscopes and maintain department equipment.
