Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Endoscopy in Concord, MA. The role involves perioperative planning, patient safety, medication administration, recovery from anesthesia, and instrument maintenance within a busy endoscopy setting.

Ideal candidates have GI/OR nursing experience, active RN licensure in good standing, and BLS/ACLS (PALS if pediatric care is included) certifications. GI nursing certification is a plus. On-site position with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
• Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if pediatric care is included within 90 days of employment.
• Specialty GI Nursing certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care by implementing.
• Protect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources.
• Demonstrating safe operation of equipment and following procedures for reporting unsafe situations.
• Speaking up with safety concerns acting as the patient’s advocate.
• Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures.
• Adhering to standard precautions including PPE.
• Complying with Universal Protocol and site validation/time-out policy.
• Communicating patient status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
• Administering medications using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Practicing and monitoring aseptic technique.
• Implementing the plan of care including recovery from anesthesia.
• Assessing patient status per policy.
• Providing nursing care and monitoring per procedures.
• Maintaining tissue perfusion balances.
• Maintaining endoscopy instruments and troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Protecting patient infection control.
• Providing education regarding recovery and care expectations.
