Job summary

SCA Health in Fountain Valley, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy in the GI Department at a multi-specialty surgery center. You will develop individualized perioperative care plans and provide expert nursing care across the perioperative continuum.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• One year of GI, OR and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state nursing licensure in good standing.
• BLS/BCLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included in facility scope.
• GI Nursing specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
• Protect patient from injury and ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Administer medications safely using the 8 rights of medication administration.
• Maintain aseptic technique and infection control.
• Provide education regarding perioperative care and expected responses.
• Assess patient status and monitor while recovering from anesthesia.
• Prepare endoscopy scopes and maintain instruments and supplies.
• Communicate patient status to the care team and document care.
• Transfer care with accurate hand-off reports to teammates.
• Protect patient privacy and comply with all policy requirements.
