Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Care Technician (Endoscopy track) for day shifts, 24 hours per week. Under RN supervision, you will provide basic nursing care, assist with daily activities, and support procedures in a high-volume unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, CNA certification or active health-science training with RN support, and current BLS/CPR. Prior acute care experience is preferred, with emphasis on patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification or enrollment in health science program preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology recommended.
• Current BLS/CPR provider required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and comfort, beds and positioning, transfers, and ROM as directed by RN.
• Assist with hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and basic patient care tasks.
• Collect and label specimens as required and perform basic clinical measurements.
• Measure and record vital signs and weights; operate and clean basic care equipment.
• Document care per RN instructions and communicate observations using unit systems.
• Support department efficiency and participate in ongoing education as directed.
