Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support endoscopy procedures and equipment handling on day shifts. You will work closely with nurses and physicians, ensuring sterile processing, infection control, and timely case turnover.

The role involves teamwork, communication, and adherence to universal protocols in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a high school credential, BCLS certification soon after hire, and experience in endoscopy or sterile

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid BCLS Certificate of Completion required within 30 days of hire (preferred at time of hire).
• Minimum of one year of procedural experience or sterile processing/decontamination experience in an endoscopy center or healthcare setting.
• Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor certification required within two years from date of hire/transfer.
• Experience in interventional procedures preferred.
• Experience in decontamination/sterile prep preferred.
• Basic typing and computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• PREPARATION: Select and prepare supplies/equipment per plan of care.
• INFECTION CONTROL: Ensure instruments are clean, disinfected or sterile.
• PROCEDURE PERFORMANCE: Assist in direct patient care under RN/Proceduralist guidance.
• PATIENT CARE/SAFETY: Take vitals, document, and participate in timeout processes.
• DECONTAMINATION/STERILE PROCESSING: Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments/equipment.
• ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS: Participate in committees and cost containment.
• MISCELLANEOUS: Restock, transport, dispose of waste, and support inventory.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including ongoing education and committee participation.
