Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic nursing care under the direction of an RN. You will assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition, vital signs and documentation to support safe patient care.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED, and current CENA certification or active enrollment in a health science program; BLS/CPR is required. Prior acute or extended care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• CENA certification or health science enrollment with nursing fundamentals course/clinical rotation.
• Equivalent healthcare experience (MA/EMT/LPN) considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, and patient confidentiality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide for patient comfort.
• Assist with hygiene activities.
• Indwelling catheter care (excluding insertion) and dressings.
• Assist with postmortem care.
• Assist with nutrition by passing trays and feeding patients.
• Record accurate input/output and measure vitals and weight.
• Document care as directed by the RN.
• Communicate effectively with the RN and care team.
